Mayweather vs. Judah

This coming Saturday (April 8, 2006), in a PPV event, Floyd Mayweather 35-0 (24 KOs) will face IBF champ Zab Judah 34-3 (25 KOs) for Judah's Welterweight title in the Roman Plaza at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Why this fight is a title fight is beyond me. Zab Judah was beaten fairly and squarely by aging Argentine journeyman Carlos Baldomir in his last fight, but because of technicalities (wink-wink-nudge-nudge), Judah was able to keep his title. What a surprise … and now the big PPV event in a super-fight with Floyd Mayweather.

This is an easy pick for the crusty Mighty Moe. Judah, at best is a journeyman with a big punch, while Floyd Mayweather is -- no doubt -- a future Hall Of Famer. Floyd should make quick work of Judah’s weak chin. I give Floyd a warm up round, and then he’ll stop Judah in the second in sensational fashion.

Judah has already proven that he has a weak chin, and worse yet, has poor recuperative abilities. Zab has fast hands, but unforutnately doesn’t punch in combinations. Look for Floyd to bait Judah, make him miss and make him pay. Zab also has a habit of dropping his hands when he backs out. He won’t be able to get away with that against Floyd Mayweather.

Zab Jewdah is a world-class journeyman(B+) these days, but it wasn't always so. He was also destined for the Hall of Fame but Tszyu brought the girl out in him!!! Many thought he would b too fast for Kostya.

The best right hand in the business changed his entire career and I think he actually did quite well to comeback and claim the Welterweight tites. But once the chin has gone, nothing will ever brng it back!

Tszyu was the greatest light-welterweight ever. Discuss.

Maf,

I think the true metal of a man is tested with fire. The night Zab Judah fought with Kostya Tszyu, he didn't have what it takes to win. The fight only went two rounds, but after the first round, Zab lost his confidence and as a result he lost the fights a few minutes later.

When measureing the intangibles, Jab came up short. Beating Cory Spinks wasn't a great performance, and certainly not a risk fight for Judah. Winning the Welterweight championship from Cory Spinks isn't the same as winning the welterweight championship from Antonio Margarito.

I can't put Zab in the Mighty-Moe hall of fame, because he hasn't come through in either of his two big tests.

I agree. But the fact that Mayweather took 10 more rounds than Tszyu proves that Kostya was a legend and a formidable force!!! That is all I am saying. jewdah is now mug but no HOF guy either. I was just pointing out how good Tszyu was and that even though Ricky was cheating, he still did the impossible. Beating Tszyu with WWE tactics is still impressive as fighters like that are one in a billion IMO.

No doubt about it, Kostya Tzsyu is a Hall of Fame fighter. But it's hard to compare Tzsyu's second round destruction of Judah to that of Mayweather's decision victory over Judah, because Mayweather doesn't like to take chances.

Mayweather is content to stay on the outside until he breaks a man down, then--and only then--will he go in for the kill. Mayweather could get away with that tactic because he was faster than Judah...whereas Tzsyu wasn't faster that Judah. Tzsyu learned that the hard way in the first round, so he had to take it to Judah.

Once he stepped with Judah, crowded him and smothered Judah's punches, the rest was academic. KAPOW! Poor Ol' Judah went for the Nestea plunge.
